Gardening gear group Husqvarna to stop making stone diamond tools

May 6 (Reuters) - Swedish garden equipment maker Husqvarna HUSQb.ST said on Wednesday it plans to discontinue its non-core stone diamond tools business within its Construction division, as it focuses on more profitable parts of the business.

Husqvarna plans to shut down stone diamond tools production in Belgium, Portugal and Greece, as well as related global service centres and sales activities, and expects to have fully exited the segment by year-end

The exit will reduce sales by around 250 million crowns ($27.2 million) on an annual basis, Husqvarna said.

The business currently employs around 200 people

Husqvarna CEO Glen Instone said the move would allow the company to prioritise investments in innovation in segments with stronger potential for margin expansion and returns.
